More points for Roman Ramos at home in Spain

Since making his debut in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at the start of 2015, on only three occasions has Roman Ramos finished a race outside the points. This was a run he maintained in Aragon last weekend.

The MotorLand round was the first of two at home in Spain for Ramos this year, ahead of the Jerez meeting which is to take place in October. On this occasion, he bagged a couple of 12th place finishes from his starting position of 14th, maintaining his record of having finished and scored points in all six races so far this season.

“We did our best in both races and we were even closer to the riders at the front of the midfield battle – the two Aprilias and a BMW – which was a lot of fun,” commented the Team GOELEVEN rider, who hails from Santa María de Cayón in the region of Cantabria, northern Spain.

“We worked well in practice but we’re still not fast enough in Tissot-Superpole; the bike is very good and everything works fine, but on the long back straight we were missing a bit of engine power. However, I go home with a smile and I’m happy with the work the team has done. Now I’m confident that we will arrive at the next round in Assen with even more confidence.”

Ramos has been racing on a professional basis since 2005, when he debuted in the FIM CEV series on a 125cc bike. He achieved CEV Supersport podium finishes in 2009 ahead of a maiden race win in CEV Moto2 in 2012. In 2013, he became the CEV Moto2 Champion with two wins and eight podium finishes to his name. After one year in the Moto2 World Championship, he joined WorldSBK in 2015.
